this is so GAY
I'm serious. Rumor has it that Jennifer Knapp came out of the closet and says she's a lesbian and has been the past 8 years. My husband says to not let it bug me, but how can I NOT let it bug me? She was my favorite musical artist for most of my childhood, so many emotions and nostalgia is wrapped up in her voice...it's just kind of creepy now. I shouldn't be so upset and judgmental, I know...The Lord loves her the same as me. Can she be a lesbian and a Christian though???? What do you think? I believe this question will arise WAY more now than ever and we need to be equipped. Christian, let's go before God and ask Him how to handle the overtly pushy gay society we live in and still be able to humbly admit we are not only narrow-minded, but close minded about what the Bible has to say. AND love them like crazy and not feel annoyed. That's really hard for me to write, but I know God doesn't want me to be rude, hate, or push gays away, that's not HIS heart for them...it's mine...*deep breath* Father, forgive me...

Well, at the risk of sticking my neck out. . . I feel like it's a sin to act on it, but not to struggle with it. Just like I might struggle with greed, selfishness, lust, dishonesty, etc. I might be tempted to sin, but it's not until I act on it that it's a problem. Make sense?
I have some gay friends. I love them, and I want them in Heaven with me, but they don't think their lifestyle is against God's design. I'm thankful He's the Judge. Not me.
I completely agree with you GlowinGirl...thanks for sharing.
This was written while I was in shock and didn't have much time to think or gather any thoughts.
I've heard about the not acting on it being a big factor in whether it's "sin", but apparently she's in a relationship, which is acting on it. It just makes the whole issue of homosexuality and Christianity that much more confusing and murky for so many. I don't understand it, but I agree, it's for God to judge, not us. And yes, we are still called to love those whose lifestyle/choices, whatever you want call it (and not just homosexuality either) we don't agree with and feel the Bible commands against. It is hard to be in a society that pushes it in your face but if you say you're a Christian and hold to those Biblical values you're intolerant and discriminatory. I don't know what to think, it makes me sad.. and frustrated.. I can see why it would bring out that reaction in you Mariah.. I wasn't that familiar with her music, but there's so much I just don't understand.. and it's not just homosexuality.. there's a lot of moral sin out there without even touching the gay/acting on it topic.. :(
